ENGLISH ESSAY MARKING

There is no doubt that essay writing practice is one of the most effective strategies in improving your skills, but it’s an exercise in futility if you don’t have a competent and current teacher – with comprehensive knowledge of your particular text, the syllabus and expectations set out in the marking memo –  providing feedback and comments on how it could be improved.

To this end, for just $40 dollars an essay, irrespective of length, genre or text title, I will provide comprehensive feedback and suggestions on how to improve your essay, not only with respect to writing style, but with specifics about content to include. Feedback will be thorough, with detailed annotations, as well as a summative review of your strengths and areas of need, and strategies and advice to develop your content and skills.  I will, however, not write your essay for you, or be complicit in any dishonest or illegal practice.

You would do well to bear in mind that students often source and respond to poorly written questions (which do not reflect the style of the external papers) from the net and elsewhere – this is a waste of time, really. You should attempt a past CIE, NCEA or IB Exam paper, or if you can’t source one, I’d be happy to let you have an original one on your specific text, free of charge. Please request a question after you’ve made payment.

Whilst you may work on your essay as if you are in an actual exam situation (with limited time and no text), it is not always going to be a worthwhile exercise if you keep producing average essays and make no progress. It might sometimes be more valuable to use your prescribed text to source quotes and supporting details, and take as much time as you need to produce a good effort and hone your skills.

Please read the procedure below carefully:

1. Click on the link, and proceed to book and pay into ANZ Account Number 01 0190 0486143 00. Alternatively, you may see me in person with the essay. (If you wish to send in more than one paper, please increase the quantity to reflect the number that you wish to submit).
2. Keep your ANZ transaction ID/receipt No. in a safe place as you will need this when you send in your paper(s) for marking.
3. Follow the directions on the instructions page to send in your essay, either as a Word or PDF document.
4. You may submit past papers from CIE, your school exams, class tests and assignments or questions you have obtained from me.
5. You have to write down or provide the question you are attempting, either on your answer sheet or as an attachment that you send.
6. Should you decide to redo the same essay and make changes and adopt my suggestions/ recommendations, you may have it re-assessed and commented on for only $20 the second time! This is an excellent and effective method of improving your essays, and breaking that glass-ceiling of 18/25!
7. You will receive your marked paper(s) within 2 working days.
